Roasted Cabbage


Dear Astrid,

These past couple weeks have been unreal… coping as ever through eating my feelings and ultra grateful for having the means to keeping ourselves fed pretty well.

We’d gone through a few delivery services and have settled on Misfits Market for a weekly drop of fresh fruit/veg as well as their “add-on” marketplace where I’ve scored grains and oat milk at a fraction of normal costs. Mercato is great for us to order from Chelsea Market where we can get reliable, sustainable goods from Dickson’s Farmstand, Buon’italia, as well as Myer’s of Keswick, so utterly relieved they’ve come back, for Jo’s beloved pork pie.

In the new abnormal, I’m gone outside my regular routines and doing things like adding a handful of pickled garlic to roasted cabbage… and more importantly, reorganizing how we purchase and consume food. I’ve always tried to balance a locavore principle with supporting small community businesses and have this still in mind as I trade our hard-earned cash for nourishment.
